Ember of the Hollow

★★★★★ 4.6 Editor rating

Ember of the Hollow is the kind of mobile RPG that respects your thumbs. Combat uses a virtual stick on the left and four skill buttons on the right, but the hit windows are generous and dodging feels reliable even on a smaller screen. You pick one of three classes and grind through hollows for gear, and the loot curve is tuned well enough that upgrades actually feel meaningful.

The story is light but the atmosphere does heavy lifting. Rain-soaked ruins, a melancholy soundtrack, NPCs who say just enough. I spent far longer in it than I meant to. The one catch is battery: with effects maxed it chewed through charge fast, so I dropped the particle setting and the drain became reasonable without losing much visually.

If you want a serious handheld RPG that works in short bursts and long sessions alike, this is an easy recommendation.
