Frontier Command
Frontier Command asks you to build outposts, manage a thin supply line, and out-position an AI that actually reacts to what you do. It's real-time but pausable, which is the right call on mobile — you can stop, pinch to survey the map, and queue orders without panic. The interface is dense but it stays legible thanks to clean icons.
The campaign surprised me with its pacing. Early missions teach without hand-holding, and by the midgame you're juggling defence and expansion at once. Pinch-zoom and drag-select both work smoothly, though on a phone I'd genuinely recommend a tablet if you have one.
Battery use is moderate, and there's a low-power graphics toggle that helps on longer sessions. A thoughtful strategy game that didn't water itself down for touch.
What we liked
- Pausable real-time fits mobile perfectly
- Reactive AI that keeps missions tense
- Readable interface despite the depth
